Veronica Adley was enlisted in the Royal St. Lucia Police Force as the first police woman on 17th May 1958.  She underwent twenty-six weeks of training at the Regional Police Training Centre in Barbados and upon her return she was actively engaged in various departments within the Police Head-quarter.  In 1970 Veronica was promoted to the rank of Corporal within the Royal St. Lucia Police Force.  She continued her movement up the ranks of the police force and was promoted  in 1974 to Sergeant and to Inspector in 1978.  She secured the post of Assistant Superintendent in 1981, a position she served for eight years until she retired in 1989 after thirty-one years of service.  Mrs. Adley has received an award from the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) for her meritorious service and an award of achivevement from the Women’s Desk in 1996.
